Where to Stay in Tashkent
Tashkent is a sprawling city and tourist attractions are quite spread out across the town. Luckily the Tashkent metro is a very affordable way to travel around the city at around $0.15 for a ticket. Taxis booked via an app are also very cheap at around $2-3 for most journeys.
For tourists, two of the best areas to stay are the central areas of Amir Temur Square or Alisher Navoi Opera Theater. Both of these areas serve as a great base to explore from.
Hotels in these areas aren’t always the best value for money but are all within walking distance to many landmarks, parks, and restaurants. See all hotels in Tashkent city center.
Hotels in and around the Mirabad district tend to offer better value for money. This area is also home to plenty of restaurants although fewer tourist attractions.
If you’re planning on visiting cultural sites such as the Khast Imam or Chorsu Bazaar then Tashkent’s old city also has a number of affordable hotels although this area has less to do in the evening.

Hotel Uzbekistan
Is Hotel Uzbekistan one of the best hotels in Tashkent? No, not by a long shot.
The hotel is quite dated and in need of a refurb. It is, however, the most iconic hotel in the city, being a landmark in itself. Located on Amir Temur Square, its looming presence is impossible to ignore.
It’s more of a novelty hotel but being one of the cheapest hotels in the city center, it’s worth a visit if you’re looking for a budget hotel in the center of Tashkent. The view from its top floor bar and restaurant over Amir Temur square is definitely worth a visit at sunset.
